‘Reflections’ is part of the Micro-provocations initiative commissioned by Architecture 00 and Central YMCA.
With wellbeing as the central subject 12 artists were invited to create art interventions at the YMCA Club provoking people to think about wellbeing in a different way, acting as personal challenges that enable people to allow new ways of thinking, instead of asking their opinion.
In my illustrated interventions across the glass and mirror surfaces of the gym I combine poetic illustrations and text inviting the viewer to consider and reconsider issues about the heart, body, dreams and emotions. I chose mirrors as a direct way of accessing people’s subconscious, my images are viewed when someone is looking at their own reflection and often when they are in the middle of a workout or resting from it. Other pieces act as a surprise element in places where people are walking by, on glass surfaces in doors, windows and corridors. Some of the illustrations explore a unique concept in themselves, whilst others are be related, adding to the sense of discovery and playfulness.
