Eating Stories

Eating Stories

Eating Stories was the recreation and expansion of my earlier mural Teddy Factory in the amazing massive vaults of Shunt as part of the exhibition Art in Industry.

The yellow monster feeds from human stories – emotions, cultures and costumes. His tongue is full of words he will swallow but also transform into something else as they enter his machine-like bowels. The girl hanging from the creature’s arm is afraid of the monster but also fascinated by him, portraying the human fear of change and simultaneous lust for life.

Plywood boards were cut to shape and painted before light bulbs, cables, bicycle wheels and found objects were attached to the structure. Eating Stories was created in only 3 days thanks to the help of the incredible production team from Shunt and a few friends. Many thanks to all!
